Behind the Scenes at our Circus-Themed Shoot!

It’s circus fancy dress at this year’s Glasgow 7s – so who better to get involved in the fun than our own Scotland 7s players?  Members of the squad brought the circus theme to life through a classic Victorian-inspired photo shoot under the direction of award-winning photographer David Boni – the man behind Scotland’s striking #backingblue campaign.

Although initially nervous about swapping training kit for the contents of a stylist’s wardrobe, the 7s squad got into character extremely quickly, embracing everything from silk long johns to top hats. Some spent longer in hair and make-up than others, but it would be indiscreet of us to say who… Time was spent matching the players with their characters and the results are some eye-catching shots, combining the athleticism and physique of professional athletes with a comical nod towards the circus skills of a bygone era.

Carnival Atmosphere

Scotstoun Stadium is a great venue for ‘clowning around’ at a family-friendly event– and the Glasgow 7s really does have something for everyone, including plenty of space for the kids to let off some steam between matches, with inflatable games, skills challenges and face-painting. For the party animals among you, we’ll be improving the ever-popular Party Stand and bringing back a mix of great music and on-the-spot entertainment, led by our MC and ‘ringmaster’ Grant Stott (rather than Colin Gregor!). Bring your mates in your most creative circus-themed fancy dress and you could win some exciting prizes too!
