Dunbar RFC is inviting applications for the position of head coach who has a demonstrable coaching background; however consideration will be given to those interested in beginning a coaching career.
Established in 1923, Dunbar RFC is an ambitious, community based rugby club currently fielding two senior XVs, Under 18s, Under 16s and also has a thriving mini section. Dunbar RFC also provides coaches to run the local secondary school rugby within S1, S2 and S3 levels.
The head coach will be responsible for all playing and coaching matters within the senior section of the club, with primary emphasis on the performance and success of the first XV. The post holder will be responsible for, work with, and develop a team of assistant coaches.
The successful candidate will also be expected to have a role working with the youth sections periodically to help the transition of our young talented players into the senior squad.
The head coach will report to the director of rugby.
Be IRB Rugby Ready and would ideally be qualified to UKCC Level 1 qualification, preferably UKCC Level 2 (or commitment to achieve by January 2014) and be keen to develop to UKCC Level 3.
Be reliable and flexible.
Enthusiasm, drive and commitment are essential qualities, along with the ability to motivate and challenge a group of young players keen to develop themselves.
This position will require a degree of commitment with planning, preparation and weekend sessions.
The head coach sets the standards for the coaches, manager and squad.
The head coach is directly responsible, to ensure that each session is prepared and communicated to the coaching team in good time.
The head coach will set an example and standards for the coaching team and squad. Be able to inspire the coaching team and players to ensure that all involved maximize their potential.
Delegate and share responsibility to the manager and assistant coaches to ensure that they feel valued and their expertise is used effectively.
Work effectively with the players, coaches, managers, director of rugby.
Clearly communicate the goals, the strategy, and tactics to all the playing groups.
This position is a voluntary position but reasonable expenses will be paid to the successful candidate to cover travel, out of expenses etc. The successful candidate will also be supported in the role by a small, but dedicated team of helpers
