Fergus Neil: referees representative

Fergus Neil was educated at The High School of Glasgow and after playing rugby at school continued his playing career at Whitecraigs Rugby Club where he has been a member since 1965. He refereed for 8 years - predominantly at grass roots level - before becoming a referee assessor.

Fergus is a World Rugby accredited Performance Reviewer and officiates as a Performance Reviewer at Magners League, Challenge Cup and Heineken Cup matches. He has also served as a Performance Reviewer at the IRB U21 World Championships. He chaired the 2007 SRU Match Officials Restructure Group and was chair of the SRU Match Officials’ Selection Panel from its inception until his election to the Council.

Fergus is a Chartered Accountant whose career in Scotland and abroad has included time in both the private sector and in Higher Education. He has served as director and company secretary for a number of companies.
