Jim Stevenson, who was born in Rutherglen and educated at Stonelaw High School, also attended Motherwell College of Further Education where he studied engineering. Jim is a local government officer with Glasgow City Council with responsibility for the traffic management of the City of Glasgow. Prior to his current position he served as a fleet examiner with Strathclyde Regional Council with responsibility for fleet operations.
Jim played his rugby with Rutherglen, Cambuslang and Dalziel rugby clubs and represented both Glasgow & District Union and Lanarkshire during a career spanning over thirty years. He has been President of Cambuslang RFC for the past seven years and was formerly Vice President of the Club in the two years preceding. He is a past Board member on the Glasgow District Board and was Scottish Rugby President from 2008-2010. Jim continues to play for his club, Cambuslang, whenever time permits.
Jim served as President of the Scottish Rugby Union in 2008-09 and 2009-10.
