Scottish Rugby today announced a sponsorship agreement with DHL, the world’s leading express and logistics company, for the Emirates Airline Edinburgh 7s at Murrayfield Stadium this weekend. Following elite on-pitch displays from teams around the world last weekend at Twickenham, the HSBC Sevens World Series has headed north to Murrayfield this weekend (Saturday 28 and Sunday 29 May) for the final leg of the 2011 Series. Tickets are on sale now from www.edinburgh7s.com or from the Scottish Rugby Ticket Centre at Murrayfield on both days of the tournament. With the inclusion of two proven international sevens players (Colin Gregor and Jim Thompson) to the squad, the Scots will look to build on last weekend’s London 7s Bowl winning feats in front of a vocal and appreciative Murrayfield crowd, taking on the 2010 Series winners, Samoa, as well as London 7s Cup finalists Fiji and USA, all on day one (tomorrow, Saturday). “Scottish Rugby is delighted to announce the support of such a globally-renowned brand for this year’s Emirates Airline Edinburgh 7s. The final leg of the HSBC Sevens World Series in Edinburgh is really a celebration of rugby – in addition to 16 international teams competing for silverware in the stadium, more than 1,000 youngsters have been invited to take part in a Festival of Rugby on Murrayfield’s back pitches. DHL’s support at this event is very welcome,” said Dominic McKay, Scottish Rugby’s Director of Communications and Public Affairs. “We’re proud to be sponsoring Scottish Rugby at the Emirates Airline Edinburgh 7s and looking forward to the final leg of the HSBC Sevens World Series. As we all count down to the Rugby World Cup in New Zealand, DHL is busy delivering rugby to the world,” added Phil Couchman, Chief Executive Officer, DHL Express (UK & Ireland).
