MURRAYFIELD CAR PARK SOLD-OUT FOR ENGLAND PDF Print
Thursday, 02 February 2012

The decision to reintroduce supporter car parking on the back pitches at Murrayfield has been warmly welcomed by fans and Scottish Rugby today announced that parking spaces for this weekend have sold out.

A total of seven hundred spaces were made available allowing supporters to book their spot online and enjoy the pre-match atmosphere of the Calcutta Cup clash with England in the RBS 6 Nations on Saturday, 4 February.

As well as music and entertainment, big screens are being erected around Murrayfield so supporters can watch the opening match of the championships, France v Italy, live from Paris.

The car park will be open from 1pm with turnstiles to the stadium opening at 2.15pm.

Those who had planned to drive to the game are being urged to use public transport as parking is severely restricted outside the stadium on match days and due to transport works elsewhere in Edinburgh, fans are being urged to get to the ground early.

Significant investment has been made by Scottish Rugby to protect the pitches, which are used by the national teams throughout the age grades as well as Edinburgh Rugby and local club, Murrayfield Wanderers RFC.

Supporter parking will again be available for the second home match of the championships, against France, but spaces are selling fast as the match approaches a sell-out crowd.  A car park pass costs £25 pounds and is available at  www.scottishrugby.org
