About the club

Dunbar RFC is an ambitious forward looking community rugby club and after another successful season at all levels is looking to recruit volunteer coaches to add to the already excellent coaching setup within our mini and midi sections

Our mini and midi teams are an extremely important part of the club. They produce players that go on to become the core of the senior teams in future years. We have club mini teams from Primary 1 through to Primary 7, S1, S2, and U15s at Dunbar Grammar School and U16s and U18s teams within the rugby club.

About the role

The role of volunteer coach will be to assist with the development of young players from Mini to Midi Age Groups in the rugby club and also with our school teams at Dunbar Grammar School.

Dunbar RFC is looking for current players, ex-players, sports and coaching students or anyone who is interested, willing and committed to coach age grade rugby teams. Ideally we would like to recruit coaches for both the forwards and the backs at midi level but a combined role is also acceptable.

Applicants would need to possess or quickly achieve Rugby Ready online and practical and would have already completed the UKCC Level 1 certification or at least willing to undertake this qualification. All expenses for these courses would be covered by the club.

Applicants will require to become a member of the PVG scheme of undergo a PVG scheme update if already a scheme member.


  • keen interest and knowledge of the game of rugby
  • determination to guide and develop young players to progress
  • two midweek evening coaching sessions
  • attendance at matches, including Saturdays and Sundays
  • liaising with the team manager, development officer and the director of rugby.
  • attend coach education courses held by the club and SRU.

Coaching kit will be supplied.
