Edinburgh U17 Development XV 15 Edinburgh rounded off the Under 17 development programme with another hard fought encounter against a physical and committed Glasgow team. Edinburgh and Glasgow went into the 2nd round of game after winning against Borders and Caledonia respectively in week one, so a competitive game was expected, and that’s what the crowd got on the cold night at Stirling. After two early misses Fraser Gillies put Edinburgh ahead with his third attempt before Jack Ferguson crossed for the first try after a nice interchange with his centre partner Michael Crawley. Ferguson made the initial half break before offloading to Crawley who drew the last defender to put Ferguson in next to the posts. Gillies converted to make it 10 – 0. The second half was evenly contest with Glasgow applying the pressure thorough a Patrick Bell penalty goal and a series of runs from scrum half Murray McConnell, Craig Greer and Fraser Watt. Edinburgh held on thanks to the strong loose forward trio of Matthew Walker, Malcolm Peacock and Ben Johnstone who were quick to snuff out any meaningful attack as they worked tirelessly at the breakdown. Peacock rounded of the scoring late on, with a well executed catch and drive after Edinburgh decided to kick for touch at the corner following a Glasgow infringement. Peacock emerged from the bottom of the maul and though the conversion went wide the final whistle came shortly after to signal the end of a successful campaign. Edinburgh Team |
