Introduction
The Speed & Agility Development Module has been developed to provide coaches with the knowledge and practical competency to coach Speed & Agility in a structured way in Rugby Sessions. It is a stand-alone module which links to the SRU Strength & Conditioning Coaching Pathway. It is a practical competency based module looking at practical aspects of coaching Speed & Agility to rugby players.

Qualification Aim
To deliver and coach Speed & Agility techniques and skills to players in a safe and well structured environment.

 

1 Day Module in Speed & Agility Development
 
OBJECTIVES

On successful completion of the module, you should be able to:-

• Demonstrate and coach the correct techniques and skills for developing Speed & Agility in the syllabus of the module.

• Safely organise Speed & Agility sessions during coached rugby sessions.

• Have a clear understanding of the movement patterns and postural requirements for Speed & Agility techniques and skills and their links to rugby skills and activities.

QUALIFICATION OUTLINE

The module operates as a one day course (usually at weekends). The Course is practically based and you will be expected to perform the skills & techniques, demonstrate and develop your coaching skills of the skills & techniques throughout the module.

ASSESSMENT

Assessment is competency based allowing you to be continually assessed & receive support & action planning throughout the module.

PREREQUISITES

Candidates are required to be 16 years of age or over before they can be registered. It is recommended that intending participants should have some experience of coaching at Club or School level.

Application

For coaches working within our clubs and affiliated schools, the course will be free. Note - applicants must state which club / school they are working with on their application.

For coaches who are not working within our clubs and affiliated schools the course costs £100 INC vat.

 Participants receive a Module Booklet and a DVD of the main skills & Techniques. Please send in completed application forms to the address below.
