Our ground at Bent Road, Hamilton has undergone significant development, including the erection of our current clubhouse facility, and we will shortly embark on a further development of our facilities on a similar scale. We field 3 competitive Senior teams weekly, participate in the SRU Under-20’s development series and have healthy Youth and Midi sections from Under-18’s to S1. We also have a thriving Mini section and are fully committed to the development of talent. In association with the SRU, SportScotland and our main sponsor National Tyre Services we have recently employed a dedicated Youth Development Officer. This will support and enhance our player’s already considerable success at Junior and Youth representative levels, providing the platform to achieve the stated objective of the Committee and supporters to play in Premier 2 for season 2010-11 and thereafter to reach the highest levels in Scottish Club rugby. In order to achieve this we now are now looking to appoint a Forwards Coach. Job title - Forwards Coach Whilst the primary focus of the role is on coaching, dependant on the skills experience and aspirations of the candidate there may also be an opportunity to play. Potential ‘Player/Coaches’ are also encouraged to apply. Job Purpose To coach the forwards of the 1st squad in order to ensure that the players have sufficient skills, knowledge, organization, physical conditioning and motivation to compete at the highest level of club rugby. Specific responsibilities In conjunction with the Head Coach and other coaches to design, develop and deliver appropriate training/coaching programmes and game plans. Conduct match and player performance appraisals, including the utilization of video analysis techniques, highlighting areas for improvement at team, unit and individual level. Actively participate in Squad selection and match day squad utilization, to include substitution policy and execution. Act in a responsible and professional manner and set an example for players at all times. Assist in matters of player recruitment and retention. Demonstrated man management and leadership abilities including the abilities to plan, organise, manage time and motivate. Commitment to adhere to all current and future SRU and IRB policies, procedures, codes of conduct and competition rules, and to uphold the Laws and the Spirit of the Game. Understanding of the role of Sports Science in injury avoidance, nutrition, mental preparation, fitness, strength training and recovery. Training is typically held in Hamilton on Tuesday and Thursday evenings from 7pm onwards with some variations from time to time. Some flexibility may be required in this regard. This post will be subject to an Enhanced Disclosure check. Key Performance Indicators Performance will be assessed with regard to the following: On and off field performance of the team. Planning and implementation of training programmes and sessions. Player development and improvement in player skill levels. Player attitude to training and match preparation. Feedback from players, team support staff and other appropriate persons. Personal performance, attitude and professionalism.
