The Scottish Rugby Championship Committee and Council have announced the League fixtures for the coming season (2009 / 2010) kicking-off Saturday 29 August.

Ex International Referee Jim Fleming was the Chair of the sub-group that looked into improving the season structure.

He said: “Myself and the elected representatives from various fora – including the Premier, National and Regional Divisions, schools and referees – have considered extensively a variety options and their ramifications and have come to a decision that satisfies all of those on both the committee and council.”

“Having taken the time to consider the feedback from clubs in great detail we have come to a decision that satisfies all those elected to represent the clubs.

“I would like to take the opportunity to thank the many clubs for their thorough feedback and for helping us to produce the revised season structure.”

The decision to review of the Scottish season was made after last year’s AGM and since then a sub-group of the Council has consulted clubs across the country before submitting its recommendations to the Championship Committee for deliberation with the Council.
