Scotland 9 Australia 8. What more need I say..... Only one Peebles team got any rugby action at the weekend, when the seconds beat a strong Dumfries team at Violet Bank. The firsts’ Radio Borders Border League game was called off on Thursday morning. By dusk, the water had started pouring onto the Gytes and at its peak just after mdnight; it had reached the north touchline and covered the whole pitch. Probably was not as deep as at Caberston Haugh which was still covered mid morning on Friday when the Gytes was less than half. Wonder who the joker was that texted Radio Borders on Saturday morning to tell them their game against St Boswells was still on. Name & shame for trying to con the station by giving their invaluable service wrong information (it didn’t work by the way). You can see video footage and photos at www.peeblesshirepost.com.
Anyway we are hopeful that once the wet spell on Wednesday passes and the drier weather follows that the 1sts will be back in action, after 2 weeks off, tonight at the Gytes in the Scottish Hydro Premier 2 match which kicks off at 7.30 PM. At Netherdale earlier this season Peebles triumphed and the Tweed Homes men will be looking to repeat the double of last season. For a bit of extra entertainment, Peebles Vets will take on Gala Vets at touch rugby at 6.30 PM. If Jim has not already contacted you and you want to join in the meet time is 6.00 PM at the Gytes.
Tomorrow the seconds are away at Melrose with a 2.00 PM KO (to be confirmed) and the colts are at Violet Bank for an early 10.00 AM start.
