The Borders Reivers rounded off their Under 17 programme with a resounding defeat at the hands of a pacy and powerful Glasgow side at Murrayfield last night.

Glasgow were two tries ahead inside the first sevens minutes, from Stewart Hamilton and Burns Singh, with David Scott adding a conversion, but the Borders produced a more determined effort for the remainder however missed tackles and turnovers led to three further Glasgow tries. Robbie Ferguson, Michael Vernel and Hamilton’s second, along with a Scott conversion gave Glasgow a 29-0 interval lead.

After the break the Reivers continued to test Glasgow up front but struggled to contain the Glasgow back-line as too many first time tackles were missed, allowing the Glasgow backs to get behind the defence and their pace and handling skills did the rest with a further seven tries from Robbie Ferguson with two to complete his hat-trick, Burns Singh, Scott Houston, Adam Barnett, Rory Hughes and David Scott. Scott’s two conversions took the final score to Glasgow 68 Border Reivers 0.
