The visitors registered two converted tries and two penalities in the first-half to go in at the break with a comfortable. Albion then extended that lead with their converted try until, with more than 60 minutes played, the referee deemed the conditions unplayable and brought an end to the match. Plymouth took an early lead after the lineout ball was in and the maul driven for 22 metres before Sean-Michael Stephens was driven over the line. Alex Davis converted, 7-0. Alex Davis converted before two Gael Force infringements, one for offside and one for early scrum engagement allowed him to stroke two penalties through the sticks to put the side in a comfortable position after just 25 minutes, 0-13. The visitors continued to pile on the pressure with the last-gasp Gael Force defence holding up two consecutive try attempts before Plymouth number 8 picked the ball up from the tail of the scrum and went down the blindside and found his team-mate Ben Mercer in plenty space to finish the try. Davis' impressive kicking continued and Plymouth took a 0-18 scoreline into the dressing room. Half time: 0-18 Plymouth's form continued after the interval when Steve Jones crossed for the visitors third try which David converted to put the visitros comfortaly ahead before referee Paul Haycock (IRFU) brought an end to the match due to the increasingly unplayable weather with just over an hour played. Full time: 0-25
Gael Force head coach, Stephen Gemmell, said: "The young boys battled hard in terrible conditions. "Plymouth played a smarter game than us, and we let them build up momentum. "Our basic skills let us down, and that is ultimately what cost us the game." |
