Dave McDonald, President of Scottish Golden Oldies Rugby, met up with representatives of the major Sponsors at the launch of the second Scottish Golden Oldies Festival.

Over 20 teams of over 35s are expected to participate in the Festival being staged at Perthshire RFC on Sunday 2 May commencing (kick-off 10am).

The event is one of several prestigious events being organised as part of the City of Perth 800th Anniversary Celebrations.

McDonald, said: "I'm delighted that The Famous Grouse has decided to support us again and their wonderful Products will be available to the players (after they've played their Matches!).

“Orion are offering to supply our referees and officials with shirts, and teams will be able to go to the Orion Website (www.orionteamwear.com) and design their own new kits, at a special festival discount by contacting Neil ( This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it ).”

Most Scottish Golden Oldies Teams should have received entry forms but, if not, they can be downloaded from the SGOR website (http://www.pitchero.com/clubs/scottishgoldenoldiesrugby/) and click on the “about us” button, then “club documents”.

If you are a Golden Oldies Rugby player who is not attached to a specific club, but would like to participate in the Festival, you will be  warmly welcomed. E-mail Dave at This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it

McDonald added: “Premier Inns are also back at the festival and are supporting the 10th European Golden Oldies Rugby Festival taking place in Caernarfon, Wales, in June."

Places are still available to join with Aberdeen Strollers - Scotland's only entrant at this Festival (contact This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it for information).
