The Border Reivers travelled to Dunbar for their final National Under 18 Selection Fixtures against Edinburgh, but came off second best and did well to keep the deficit to ten points at the end of the match. The match had started well for the visitors though, with some early pressure in the Edinburgh 22 resulting in Josh Welsh landing a penalty after nine minutes. Edinburgh responded quickly as a turnover in midfield led to Harris Jones crossing two minutes later for a try converted by Fraser Gillies. Reivers regained the lead after twenty minutes with an opportunist try as Rory Sutherland snatched a loose ball at the back of an Edinburgh line-out and raced twenty five metres to score in the left corner. Under pressure though the Reivers started to concede penalties, and Fraser Gillies converted one to put Edinburgh back in front and on the stroke of half time, after a series of drives close to the line, the ball was flashed along the Edinburgh backline for Jones to cross for his second try and give the home side a 15-8 interval lead. Edinburgh controlled the majority of the match after the break, adding an early penalty from Gillies and had two tries chalked off, first for a knock-on and then for a forward pass, before Lawrie Seydak forced his way over the Borders line with ten minutes remaining for a try converted by Gillies. Reivers had conceded a huge amount of possession in the second half, mainly through front row infringements at the scrum, but in the closing stages did make it into the Edinburgh twenty two, allowing Stuart Hogg to step over under the posts and add the conversion to reduce the final deficit to ten points.
