The Border Reivers were cruelly exposed by a ruthless Caledonia side that ran in ten tries in a 60-0 demolition of the Borders youngsters at Braidholm in Glasgow. The Reivers performance was littered with errors from the start as their set-piece fell apart and they struggled to cope with Caledonia’s intensity in contact and pace around the park. It took Caledonia only two minutes to get on the scoreboard as scrum half Murdo McAndrew brushed aside three tacklers with ease to go in under the posts. Further tries followed at regular intervals from Scott Rendall, Martin Hall, Ed Farquharson and Angus Guthrie. One conversion from Ali Addy and two from Guthrie saw Caledonia lead 31-0 at the interval. There was no let up for the Reivers after the interval as Caledonia continued to dominate a demoralised side. Further tries came from Farquharson, Cameron Leask, Sean McDonald, Chris Arnold and Loche Walters. Jack Urquhart added two conversions as Caledonia racked up sixty points. Next Sunday the Reivers host the Under 16 Player Identification Fixtures at Philiphaugh, Selkirk where they will play Glasgow at 2.30pm, while Caledonia and Edinburgh clash at 1pm. Admission to both matches is free. Border Reivers |
