Scottish Exiles V Yorkshire PDF Print
Tuesday, 11 May 2010

A warm weekend in Leeds was made especially memorable by a feast of running rugby by the Exiles against a very good Yorkshire U16 side. The Exiles without their Scotland players met the day before the game and trained well before the difficult challenge ahead. The last time the two rugby organisations met, the Yorkshire side ran out as strong winners, but the Exiles programme has grown significantly since then in terms of the number and quality of players available. The game started well for both teams, the Yorkshire team running directly and strongly and also showing up well at the set pieces. The Exiles stuck to the key themes of playing wide and looking for off loading opportunities. As the game went on the Exiles started to take a greater control in terms of territory and possession. Some very good individual performances notably from Moncur (centre), Main (flanker) and Kennedy (No 8) saw the Exiles run out winners officially 21 – 12.

Exiles squad (Player/ Regional group): Neil Cully (West Midlands) Jack Riley (WM), Jonny Russell (South East), Munro Third (SE), Struan Potter (WM) Ross Heggerty (WM), Thomas Smart (North West), Richard Adeniyi-Jones (SE), Danny Kennedy (C) (NW), Robin Shellcock (NW), Ewan Brannan (Yorks), Alex Frame (WM), Cameron Jeffrey (SE), Jack Sampson (East Midlands), Ben Cooper (WM), JJ Kilmartin (SE), Sam Moncur (NW), Jordan Kelly (WM), Stewart Day (EM), Tom Inglis (SE)
