Introduction to the Modern Apprentice Programme The Modern Apprenticeship in Management is a nationally accredited (MA Level 3) course which combines specific units of study as specified by the Scottish Qualification Authority (SQA). This is combined with recognised coaching and complementary qualifications (eg UKCC, Referee, First Aid, Child Protection) to develop young people and prepare them for roles in delivering and managing coaching programmes in the community. Candidates will be employed full time with Scottish Rugby, during which they work towards the specific standards of the course, collecting evidence which will allow the programme staff to positively credit / assess their coaching and management skills/performance and learning in relation to specific areas of the course content. Over the last two years we have seen Modern Apprentices move on to both Further and Higher Education programmes and also gain employment as Assistant Development Officers. The programme has both male and female coaches. The links below show some of the recent activity of our young coaches.
