Good pre-season outing despite back shortage

Peebles Colts travelled to Dunbar on Sunday to play a triangular fixture against the hosts and Murrayfield Wanderers. Due to the unavailability of a number of backs, the team was very ‘forward orientated, which meant we saw hookers and props in the three quarter line on a number of occasions! The first 35 min period pitched Dunbar against Murrayfield, with the home team running out comfortable winners 22-0. Next up was Peebles against Dunbar, and with committed driving play from the kick-off, Peebles eventually ran out 39-0 winners. The final period was between Peebles and Murrayfield Wanderers, with Peebles again winning in good style 37-0. While the coaching staff know that there will be sterner tests ahead, this was nevertheless a good first run-out of the season, with the added bonus of some of last season’s Under 16 squad making their debuts in the Colts and showing up very well. The colts’ next game in a home fixture against Biggar colts on Wednesday evening – venue to be decided.
