Peebles were saddened to hear of the sudden death of club stalwart Bob MCDonald and a minute’s silence, in memoriam of his contribution to the club and game, was held before the kick off. Bob was a player, captain, committee man and supporter of Peebles RFC over a period of many years and will be sadly missed.

The banana skin came and Peebles slipped big time but levelled with the last kick of the game. Tomorrow Peebles are again at home in Premier 2, this time to Kelso who are 4 places behind Peebles in 5th place after 2 games. Being a Border derby, table places will hold for nought and it will be a fiercely contested game, with a large support from both clubs.

The game tomorrow will be preceded by a vet’s touch rugby game between Peebles & Gala.

Tomorrow, Square Meals, www.squaremealstoyou.co.uk, will again be on site to provide the fayre at pitchside. This is only one of their range of catering packages that they offer. You can get more info on their web site.

The first game at Hay Lodge Park, which is looking better than it has done for a couple of seasons, saw Martyn Clyde score all 10 of Peebles 2nds points with a try, conversion and penalty. It was not enough to deal with the powerful pack of Boroughmuir who won the game at 10-37.
Tomorrow they will again be at hay Lodge Park. Their opponents are also Kelso.

The colts had a tremendous win against Selkirk YC at the High Scholl, thus ending their unbeaten run of about 48 games. A great result for the youngsters who take that to Langholm

Piranhas Training
Sunshine over Peebles and the High School obviously makes a huge difference on a Sunday morning.  We had a really good turnout in the younger age groups and parents staying to watch but the coaches would still love to see more players coming along for the P6 and P7 sections. As a result of the low numbers in these age groups the away match which was due to take place at Biggar this Sunday has been postponed till later in the season.
Clothing

For training, players should wear a sports top, shorts or tracksuit bottoms, and thick socks together with rugby/football boots. Don’t forget to bring your gum shield and water bottle. We will have samples on show this Sunday, in all sizes, of the subsidised playing kit that we have available such as track suits, rain jackets, shorts and kit bags.

Teas, coffees etc
If anybody fancies lending a hand to raise extra funds by helping at the Sunday training sessions to sell teas, coffees etc please contact any of the coaches  – last year was really successful and it would be great if we could do the same again.
Membership Form/Information pack and Fixture List
Both of these are now available for downloading from the club web site along the order form for kit although we will have a supply available at training. Subscriptions of £15 are now due – this covers club membership and insurance. If you fancy joining as a family Peebles RFC offer a discount – look on the club web site for more details.
Dates for the Diary
Gala Tournament – 19th September for the P3’s to P7’s, time & transport to be confirmed.

Coffee Morning – 25th September in the clubrooms at 10 am till 12. Volunteers, home baking etc will be appreciated.

Autumn Test – Scotland V New Zealand on 13th November. We’re looking for names from P7, P6 and P5 players plus any parents to go up to Murrayfield by bus. This will be a shared trip hopefully with the High School. Names etc to Jim King please.

Anyone wishing further details about the club, training arrangements or willing to assist in any way should contact George Blair Peebles RFC Dev. Officer

(07801 791253) or Jim King (01968 660628)
