Peebles maintained their unbeaten record in Premier 2 with a bonus point win against Kelso. Both Warnock brothers scored tries, with the ever improving Neil also bagging 11 points with 3 penalties and a try, whilst hooker Ryan McConnell grabbed the final try which meant Peebles got their first well earned bonus point of the season. Tomorrow both the 1sts and 2nds are at Riverside Park. Jed-Forest had a 16 all draw at Beveridge Park last week, but once again, it’s a Border derby and as mentioned by Robert Hogarth last week, form goes out the window. The only thing that can be forecast with certainty is that it will be a hard game with both teams giving their all. Coach Gary Parker returns from international commitments to join Gerry McGuinness in the dugout. A rumour was started at Monday night’s committee meeting that Jim Currie would be in the squad tomorrow. How true that will be, the secret will be out tomorrow, but at some time during the game, new recruit David McLean will make his Peebles debut in a Tweed Homes jersey.

The seconds have not got off to the best of starts with a second large defeat. The team on paper look a good bit stronger this week for the trip to Jed with the 1sts, but there are still a few more players to get back into kit, before Bev can field his best side.

The colts had a second win in the Border Semi Junior league at Milntown, and hope to make it 3 in a row tomorrow at the Hay Lodge Park, when another Jedburgh team, Jed Thistle who had a high scoring draw on their first outing and lost last week to Kelso Quins, provide the opposition.

Peebles High School had their opening round of the Brewin Dolphin U18 cup on Wednesday against Knox Academy, whilst the U16s kick off this afternoon at home against Hawick HS at 2.00 PM. Check the PRFC web site for results.

Piranhas Patter

Piranhas Training
Once again the club had a really good turnout last Sunday in the younger age groups but we seem to be way down over last year’s numbers for the P6 and P7 sections. New recruits are more than welcome to come along!
Teas, coffees etc
If anybody fancies lending a hand to raise extra funds by helping at the Sunday training sessions to sell teas, coffees etc please contact any of the coaches  – last year was really successful and it would be great if we could do the same again.
Membership Form/Information pack and Fixture List
Both of these are now available for downloading from the club web site along the order form for kit although we will have a supply available at training. Subscriptions of £15 are now due – this covers club membership and insurance. If you fancy joining as a family Peebles RFC offer a discount – look on the club web site for more details.
Dates for the Diary
Gala Tournament – 19th September for the P3’s to P7’s, times & transport details will be confirmed at training this weekend, in next week’s Peeblesshire and in the minis section of www.Peeblesrfc.org.

Coffee Morning – 25th September in the clubrooms at 10 am till 12. Volunteers, home baking etc will as always be appreciated. These events ensure that funds can be raised for the minis by parents, players and supporters so come along on the day and help us out. All funds that we bringing help us to subsidise playing kit, bus trips and match day catering.

Autumn Test – Scotland V New Zealand on 13th November. We’re looking for names from P7, P6 and P5 players plus any parents to go up to Murrayfield by bus. This will be a shared trip hopefully with the High School. It’s early days for this but so far not a great response – If you are at all interested in seeing Scotland take on the favourites to win next year’s World Cup then pass your names etc to Jim King please.

Anyone wishing further details about the club, training arrangements or willing to assist in any way should contact George Blair Peebles RFC Dev. Officer

(07801 791253) or Jim King (01968 660628)
