Last Friday saw the Orkney RFC February Half-term training day take place with a record number of primary school children taking part.   In the morning Primary 1 - 3 children practiced their speed and agility, got involved in the assault course challenge, and played Tag Rugby games in what was a very cold morning which the children did very well to keep moving and showing great enthusiasm.

In the afternoon it was the chance for the Primary 4 - 7 players to get involved and they too were put through their paces with Speed and Agility activities, assault course challenge, ball skills, tag bull dogs and games of Tag Rugby.  The players also had the opportunity to practice their tackling on the tackle shields and barge their way through big tackle bags which set them up for the games at the end of the day.

Club development officer Bruce Ruthven said;
"The turnout today has been fantastic with children making a huge effort to attend especially the Rousay and Shapindsay bairns.  We have had over ninety kids running about, enjoying themselves, meeting new friends and showing that they are very committed to their rugby training.  It was quite cold in the morning but this didnt put the kids off too much, so well done to all involved.  Also a big thankyou to the coaches who hae done a great job in martialling the troops."
