Match Repost U17 NSF 16 Feb 2011Caledonia U17's make it a double clean sweep. Under 17 National Selection Fixtures Caledonia 27-24 Glasgow Caledonia Under 17's matched their Under 18 counterparts last night at Murrayfield after narrowly defeating Glasgow to make it 3 wins out of 3 in the National Selection Fixtures. First half trys from Jack Somerville, Ed Farquharson and Chris Arnold and two conversions by Jack Urquhart against just one unconverted try from Glasgow had Caledonia 19-5 up at half time. In the last few minutes of the first half Caley had to sustain severe pressure from Glasgow and this was only a taste of what was to come in the second half with Glasgow storming back into the game scoring 3 trys and 2 conversions without reply to lead 19-24 with only a few minutes remaining. Caledonia showed great character though to finish strongly and Caley scored an unconverted try when Chris Arnold got his second try of the evening to level the scores 24-24 with one minute remaining. Caley fielded the kick off and quickly attacked which was the last play of the game, the forwards managed to get up to the Glasgow 22 and apply enough pressure for Glasgow to concede a penalty. Jack Urquhart showed great composure to score the penalty with the last kick of the ball for the victory. The match ball was presented to coach Ian Mitchell (Kirkcaldy RFC) as this was his last game before stepping down after many years of service to Caledonia Rugby.
