Melrose booked their place in their fourth successive Scottish Cup final with a five tries to three victory over Currie at Malleny Park at the weekend. The Borderers have won on only one out of three previous contests in that sequence and will face the winners of the semi-final between Ayr and Boroughmuir when Cup Finals Day takes place at Murrayfield on Saturday 16 April.
Melrose’s 43-25 success against Currie stemmed from tries by wingers Allan Dodds and Callum Anderson, prop Nicky Little, full-back Fraser Thomson and back-row forward John Dalziel. Scott Wight, Scotland’s Club International stand-off, landed another 18 points through four penalties and three conversions. Currie’s points came from tries by No 8 Ross Weston, centre Andy McMahon and stand-off Matt Scott. Hayden Abercrombie kicked two conversions and two penalties. |
