About Tayside & Fife region

I am Doc McKelvey, Scottish Rugby’s Regional Development Manager for Tayside & Fife. I have been the Regional Development Manager here since 2008. On completing my university degree I took up the post of Rugby Development Officer at Perthshire RFC. I spent three years working at Perthshire RFC before moving to the role of Coach Development Officer within the Coach Development Department at Murrayfield for a short while before taking up my current post.

Assisted by Scottish Rugby Staff Neil Graham, the Coach Development Officer for the East, Mark McKenzie, the Regional Academy Coach for the Midlands, Car Stevenson, the National Women and Girls Rugby Development Manager and Lindsey Booth, the Rugby Development Manager for University & College Rugby; support is given to the 22 active rugby clubs, as well as 312 primary schools, 47 secondary schools, 5 independents and 3 universities.
Current playing numbers are 1816 adults and 3506 youths of which 213 are girls.

In short I am responsible for the development of rugby in an area situated across the central and east of Scotland comprising four Local Authority areas namely; Angus, Dundee City, Fife and Perth & Kinross.

In partnership with Local Rugby Clubs, Local Authorities and other funders Scottish Rugby currently has seven full-time Development Officers and a number of Community Coaches working throughout the Tayside & Fife Community.
