Positive Coaching Scotland Programme in association with The Bill McLaren Foundation
- A club development programme -
Programme outcomes: To build and maintain a strong and positive club culture which will be beneficial to long term player development as well as the development of young people through rugby.
How do we achieve these outcomes? Through guiding clubs in identifying core values that are central to the intended club culture and communicating these in a practical and understandable way to all stakeholders in the club (coaches, parents and players). These core values will be utilised as drivers for club development. Through implementing the key PCS principles in the way we coach and support our players: - Honour our sport - Redefine ‘winner’ - Fill the emotional tank These three principles form an integral part of a healthy club culture as they focus on the ethos of 'respect' and a coaching philosophy that will grow the game in quantity and quality. For background information on the programme and partners, please read the programme background document below. The programme is packaged as an accreditation process (see road map below). For more information on how your club can pursue accreditation, please find the programme outline as well as the programme update below. Coaches and parents (especially those from clubs who are already partners to the programme and have been to workhops) can find descriptions of the PCS principles as well as tools for practical application below as detailed in the workshops. The workshop calendar will give some insight on the national picture and time frames of delivery for the following 2 months.
