Royal High School emerged the victors in the the 10-a-side tournament, which ran in memory of the 17 year-old Portobello High School rugby player who lost his life in June. They beat Portobello in a nail-biting final which ended 19-10. Royal High School head coach, Alistair Oliver, said: "It has been a superb tournament today, and we are delighted to have won the Cup (sponsored by Hearts and Balls). "The competition is a very fitting memory for Calum and it has been great to see all the teams in Edinburgh come together to honour his memory, I almost wish that Portobello won. "Every player and team has played there socks off throughout the day and it's definetly been a successful tournament." Trinity Academy also managed to get their hands on some silverware as they beat Lasswade in the Plate (sponsored by Edinburgh Rugby) final, 14-10. It was also fantastic to see a number of the Portobello High School players adopting an old tradition of Calum's, wearing the red socks of Musselburgh with the Portobello strip. More pictures of the day and the trophy presentation will be posted in due course. |
