GLASGOW WARRIORS AND EDINBURGH RUGBY UNDER-17 SELECTION MATCHES PDF Print
Wednesday, 12 October 2011

In pursuit of making the Glasgow Warriors and Edinburgh Rugby Under-17 teams, players from the Borders, Caledonia, Glasgow and Edinburgh came together to play in two matches at Murrayfield this evening.

Senior regional academy coach, Grant McKelvey, said: “These matches are a great opportunity for young players to show us what they can do and try and align themselves with the professional clubs.

“Also it’s there first chance to play rugby at a level similar to that of the age-grade international matches.

First up was Caledonia under-17s and Glasgow under-17s. Caledonia were the victors winning 27-15. Following that match was the Borders under-17 versus Edinburgh under-17. Edinburgh won, 60-0

The best players from the two games will be selected by Scottish Rugby’s regional academy coaches to create one Glasgow Warriors under-17 team and one Edinburgh Rugby under-17 team respectively.

These two teams will then play another match on Wednesday 26 October at Murrayfield.
