BREWIN DOLPHIN CUP SEMI FINALS READY TO GO PDF Print
Friday, 04 November 2011

Edinburgh Academy and High School of Dundee have secured their places in the Brewin Dolphin Scottish Schools under-18 and under-16 Cup semi-finals respectively.

The under-18 Cup will be an all Edinburgh affair after Edinburgh Academy saw off Robert Gordon’s College 45-0, at Countesswells earlier this week.

Meanwhile in the last game of the under-16 Cup quarter-finals, High School of Dundee edged their way into the last four despite initially falling behind 0-7 in the first ten minutes of the game against opponents George Heriot’s School.

However, the Dundee side went onto score four tries to secure the win: two from scrum-half Henry Sampson, one from open-side flanker Christopher Jollands and another from captain Duncan Leese who also added two conversions to their tally, 24-14.

They now travel to George Watson’s College in the semi-final stage of the competition.

Graeme Merry, Under-16 head coach for High School of Dundee, said:  “Whilst it wasn’t our best game of the season it was certainly the most challenging.  It was a real wake-up call for us and we’ve work to do before meeting George Watson’s College in the semi-final but we’re looking forward to it.”

Scottish Rugby’s head of community rugby, Colin Thomson, said: “This year’s semi-finals will spark interest throughout Scotland as teams from across the country come together to compete for the Brewin Dolphin Scottish Schools Cup.

“We wish all the teams still involved in the tournament the best of luck.”
