Next weekend (Saturday 26 November) Dollar Academy and George Watson's College will go head-to-head in the Brewin Dolphin Scottish Schools Cup under-16 final on the international pitch at Murrayfield, kick-off 4pm. In only their second year fielding an under-16 team in the competition Dollar Academy have faced up to some tough opposition to reach this year's final. Dollar Academy head coach, Martin Hose, said: “It’s a real achievement for us to reach the final in our first year fielding an under-16 team. This really underpins what we’re trying to achieve in our rugby development at the school. ![]() The two finalists captains Alex Crawford (left: Dollar Academy) and Ally Miller (right: George Watson's) prepare for next weekend's encounter. “The quarter and semi-final matches we played were very close, so we hope to lift our game and put in the best performance possible against a massive rugby school and emulate the success of past Dollar teams, who have won the under-18 Cup three times. “Alex Crawford our openside flanker is leading the team really well and scrum-half Jacob Adamson is playing a very dynamic style of rugby which has seen him cross the try-line on a number of occasions.” “The boys are really looking forward to the match on the 26th; for the experience and to play under lights for the first time.” George Watson's College have finally earned their place in the last two having reached the semi-final in 2009/10 and 2010/11, and going out with less than seven points on each previous occassions. George Watson's head coach, Ian Brown, said: “The competition has been really tough this year, but we have performed well and been consistent thus far. “We’re delighted to reach the final, it has been a collective effort, led very well by Ali Miller, whereby the team are always looking to improve while having fun. “Now we can’t wait for the final.” Scottish Rugby’s head of community rugby, Colin Thomson, said: “Scottish Rugby would like to congratulate Dollar Academy and George Watson’s for all their hard work in reaching the final” “Finals days is an excellent day out and the atmosphere in Murrayfield is always first class. I wish both teams all the best as they go head-to-head next Saturday.” The under-16 final is the first part of a double-header with the under-18 final between Edinburgh Academy and George Watson’s College following on the international pitch with a 6pm kick-off.
