Last Saturday saw Glenrath Farm Eggs sponsored Peebles played Jedforest at the Gytes in their first RBS Regional Cup Qualifier. On a fine afternoon for rugby the crowd were entertained by some fine play by both sides – however despite their promising start the home side eventually lost out by 24 - 28. Tomorrow Glenrath Farm Eggs sponsored Peebles make the short journey to Netherdale to face high-flying Gala in their next RBS Regional Cup Qualifier – kick-off 3:00pm. The seconds – supported by FIRST XV and rugbystuff.com – are at home to face Gala A in RBS Reserve League East 1 – kick-off 2:00pm. The Colts – supported by BARC – are on the road with an away fixture against Jed Thistle in the Border Semi-Junior league – kick-off 2:00pm. Tonight is quiz night in the clubrooms - teams of 3 – 5 are invited to take part £10 per team – all proceeds of this event will be donated to the Alex Noble Appeal. Alex is the son of former Peebles player Chris Noble – he was diagnosed with the aggressive childhood cancer Neuroblastoma at age 20 months and has since then endured chemotherapy, surgery and radiotherapy in an effort to conquer it. Unfortunately Alex has gone into relapse and whilst he is responding to further chemotherapy, the treatment options in the UK for cases like his are limited. The hope is that some of the therapies being developed abroad may help Alex in the future and the fund is being raised to meet the cost of possible treatment overseas. All members are asked to support this very worthy cause. Donations can also be made via www.bmycharity.com/AlexNobleAppeal |
