The pitch was divided into four sections with P4/5a having two smaller pitches and the P6/7s with the bigger. Each age-group then went onto semi finals with all of them being great games. The final game for the P4/5s was Morar v Inverlochy which Morar were able to win in spite of Inverlochy’s tenacity. Fort William won the P6/7 final in a hard battle against Fort William RC. Later on in the afternoon three of the four Lochaber High Schools, Kinlochleven, Mallaig and Lochaber competed at S1/S2 level. Mallaig and Lochaber both fielded two teams. This time it was a round robin, which Mallaig Green team won. Scottish Rugby Education Manager and manager of the SVQ programme Paul Kesterton said: “It was wonderful to see so many children playing and enjoying rugby. The standard of play was terrific and a great deal of credit must go to Steven Traill, Lochaber’s SVQ for all his coaching efforts and of course Active Schools for co-ordinating such a fantastic day. And it stayed dry!” |
