Royal Bank of Scotland RugbyForce 2016

Alastair Kellock joins forces with Annan RFC thanks to Royal Bank RugbyForce

Al Kellock - RugbyForceFormer Scotland and Glasgow Warriors captain Alastair Kellock has been announced as an honorary board member of Annan RFC through the Royal Bank of Scotland RugbyForce initiative.

The grassroots partnership between Royal Bank and Scottish Rugby aims to help clubs attract new members and become more sustainable. New for 2016, clubs had the chance to see Kellock join their club as an advisor for a year, in addition to be receiving grants of up to £1,000.

A record number of clubs registered for Royal Bank RugbyForce this year, with 143 applications being received from across the country. Selected due to the club's forward-thinking plans, Annan RFC will receive a grant of £1,000 along with the opportunity to work with Kellock, who will offer his support, guidance and wealth of experience to the Dumfries and Galloway club.

Kellock, who led the Glasgow Warriors to the Guinness Pro12 title before retiring, will mostly work with Annan RFC on off-field matters, helping the club become more sustainable and continue their progression after a successful 2015/16 season.

Kellock will join forces with his new club for the first time in August for Royal Bank RugbyForce Weekend and will then be offering his support as Annan look to improve facilities for both players and supporters and develop a long-term plan to ensure the club remains sustainable.

In addition to Annan, over 120 clubs will be rewarded with grants of £200 or £1,000. Ten of those clubs will be joined on Royal Bank RugbyForce Weekend by members of the current elite Scotland squad as clubs across the country bring club members and volunteers from local communities together ahead of the new season on 13th and 14th August. All clubs that registered for Royal Bank RugbyForce 2016 will also receive supporting club packs containing items such as water bottles, posters, balloons and t-shirts.
