Andy Nicol In Line For Glasgow Return

Andy Nicol is expected to be fit to lead Glasgow in the Heineken Cup match against Cardiff at Hughenden on Sunday. Good news has also been reported on three of the scrum half's fellow caps - centre James McLaren, wing Jonathan Steel, and flanker Gordon Simpson.Nicol and McLaren were late withdrawals from the team for the Heineken Cup match that Glasgow lost to Cardiff by 7-46 at the Arms Park last Saturday. McLaren dropped out the day before the game because of a groin problem, and a bout of gastro-enteritis forced Nicol to join the absentee list on the morning of the match."Andy has been recovering well, and he should be fit for Sunday," Richie Dixon, Glasgow's head coach, reported today. "Jon Steel, Jim McLaren, and Gordon Simpson also are making good progress. They are back on the full fitness programme."A groin infection has kept Simpson out of the Glasgow team since the Heineken Cup match against Montferrand more than a month ago, and Steel has missed the past two games because of a hamstring strain.Another of Glasgow's absentee wings, Michael Bartlett, also is among those who could be considered for selection for Sunday. He was unavailable for the Cardiff match last weekend because of deep bruising on a thigh.Sunday's match will kick off at 3.45pm.Andy Nicol is expected to be fit to lead Glasgow in the Heineken Cup match against Cardiff at Hughenden on Sunday.
