Jon Petrie Making Good Progress After Injury

Jon Petrie, the Glasgow and Scotland No.8, is making such good progress after injury that he well be back in rugby earlier than expected. However, he will not be available for Glasgow's Celtic League semi-final against Leinster at Lansdowne Road, Dublin, on Friday evening (kick-off 7.30). Nor will his fellow caps, Glenn Metcalfe and David Hilton. Richie Dixon, Glasgow's head coach, said today: "Jon is making very good progress. We're hopeful he can be back before we expected. But Glenn and David are still on rehab." Petrie had deep lacerations on his left leg during Scotland's Murrayfield international against Argentina last month. The original prognosis was that the earliest he might be back for Glasgow would be the Boxing Day match against Edinburgh at Hughenden. Before then, Glasgow have a Welsh/Scottish League game at Caerphilly on 22 December as well as the prospect of the Celtic League final a week on Saturday [15 December]. Metcalfe, Petrie, and Hilton missed Glasgow's Celtic League quarter-final win against Connacht in Galway last Saturday. However, all 22 on duty that afternoon are available for selection for Friday's Lansdowne Road semi-final.
