Glasgow's match against Edinburgh tonight at Hughenden has been postponed after heavy snow this morning. No new date has yet been considered for the Virgin Trains Cup fixture.Snow fell on Hughenden for only three hours, and by midday it had turned to rain. The forecast was for the weather to continue improving, but three inches of snow were lying on the pitch and the terracing when the ground was inspected early this afternoon."We knew the forecast was for a change for the better, but we doubted whether the snow would clear from the pitch in time for the kick-off," David Jordan, Glasgow's Chief Executive, said this afternoon. "We are, of course, disappointed that the game has been called off. But we had to consider spectators" safety as well as the players" welfare."It is the second time the Glasgow v Edinburgh fixture has been postponed this season.
