Tommy Hayes Returns For Glasgow

Tommy Hayes returns to Glasgow's XV for the Welsh/Scottish League match against Ebbw Vale at Eugene Cross Park on Saturday [27 April]. Two Scotland caps, Alan Bulloch and Jon Petrie, also are back, but their international colleague, James McLaren, has been ruled out by a calf injury.Hayes will be making his 101st appearance for Glasgow. The stand-off reached his century by playing as second-half replacement in the Stradey Park match that Glasgow lost against Llanelli last Saturday. It will be Gordon McIlwham's turn on Saturday to play his 100th game for Glasgow.In all, three changes have been made from the team who started at Llanelli. Bulloch deputises for McLaren at outside centre, Hayes resumes in place of Calvin Howarth at fly half, and Petrie returns in his accustomed role at No.8, replacing the injured Roland Reid. Petrie missed the Llanelli match because of a calf strain whereas Reid rolled an ankle early in that game.Richie Dixon, Glasgow's head coach, explained today that Reid was "not quite ready" to return to action. However, he emphasised that the injury was not serious.Glasgow's squad of substitutes includes three of Glasgow Hawks" team beaten in extra time by Hawick in the BT Cellnet Cup final team from last Saturday - Chris Docherty, Richard Maxton, and Kenny Sinclair. Docherty has been called in because Glasgow's regular back-up hooker, Dougie Hall, took a knock on a hip in training.Saturday's match is Glasgow's last away fixture of the season.
