Heineken Cup Call For Young West Hooker

Fergus Thomson, the 18-year-old West of Scotland hooker, is among four club players included in Glasgow's Heineken Cup squad. So are Damien Kelly, Ayr's 24-year-old lock forward, and two Aberdeen Grammar players, Rod Sieb and Ben Prescott.Thomson, who played his club rugby with Howe of Fife before joining West, was in the Scotland under-19 squad who finished fifth in the IRB/FIRA world junior championship in Italy five months ago. More recently, the young hooker, a second-year sports science student at Glasgow University, was added to the Scottish Institute of Sport rugby squad.Prescott was in Glasgow's Heineken squad last season, making a replacement appearance in the Hughenden victory against Cardiff in November.
