Gemmell Appointed Academy Manager

Stephen Gemmell has been appointed to the key full-time post of Academy Manager for Glasgow District.Gemmell, 31, has been Scottish Rugby's Development Officer for Inverclyde and Renfrew for almost nine years, during which time he has played centre and captained Kilmarnock._This season he has been part of the coaching team for the Scotland Women's side and was invited on the pioneering level three coaching course last week.David Jordan, Chief Executive of Glasgow Rugby, said: 'stevie will oversee the planning, implementation and performance evaluation of the most promising young players between the ages of 15 and 21 in Glasgow District."He will be responsible for identifying the young talent with a view to improving the players" readiness for the opportunity to make a career in professional rugby._As part of our integrated approach between the Glasgow Rugby professional side and the GDRU he will be responsible for managing the age-grade structures within Glasgow District._He will also be on hand to advise clubs in setting up their own academy structures."Glasgow is a vast district stretching from the Isle of Mull in the far north-west to Wigtownshire in the south-west and from Strathendrick in the north east to Annan in the south-east.
