Hawks" Cup-Winning Captain In Glasgow'S Heineken Squad

Eric Milligan, who led Glasgow Hawks to victory in the Scottish Cup final in May, is among four club players included in Glasgow's squad for the forthcoming Heineken Cup campaign. The other club players are Elliot McLaren from Biggar, Ben Prescott from Aberdeen Grammar School FP, and Jonathan van der Schyff from Currie.Milligan, McLaren, and Prescott are needed to increase the front-row numbers to the 10 required under Heineken regulations. Van der Schyff, a 21-year-off South African who joined Currie earlier this month, is in the squad of 34 as cover for Nathan Ross, who will be a long-term absentee because of a knee injury.Prescott has already played in Heineken rugby for Glasgow. He made a replacement appearance against Cardiff, the Hughenden game in November 2001 when Glasgow came back with a 47-32 win as a startling response to a 7-46 defeat at The Arms Park a week earlier. Milligan was in Glasgow's European squad last season, though not called on for a match squad.McLaren, who, like van der Schyff, is a newcomer to the European scene. The 23-year-old, 16st 4lb Biggar prop played for Scotland's under-19 team in all four games in the 2001 world junior championship in Chile. Van der Schyff has played for South Africa Schools and his country's under-19 team as well as the Blue Bulls at under-19 and under-20 levels, and most recently the 6ft 5in, 17st lock forward was in Natal's Currie Cup training group.Paul Dearlove has been included in Glasgow's squad despite his leg fracture during the Celtic League match against Newport Gwent Dragons at Hughenden on Friday. It is unlikely that he will be available for the first phase of Heineken matches next month, though the hope is that he could be available for selection for the December games.Glasgow's Heineken campaign opens with a Hughenden match against Northampton Saints on Sunday 24 October. That will be followed five days later with a visit to Toulouse. Glasgow then have back-to-back matches against Llanelli Scarlets on the first two Sundays of December - at Hughenden on the 5th, and Stradey Park on the 12th. All three Sunday games kick off at 1.00pm, and the Toulouse match has an 8.30pm start (French time, 7.30 BST) on Friday 29 October.Glasgow's Heineken Cup squad:Scott BarrowJoe BeardshawJohn BeattieGraeme BeveridgeGordon BullochAndy CraigPaul DearloveColin GregorAndrew HallLee HarrisonAndrew HendersonCalvin HowarthAndrew KellyRory KerrSean LamontScott LawsonKenny LoganDonnie MacfadyenGareth MaclureCameron MatherElliot McLarenDavid MillardEric MilliganGraeme MorrisonEuan MurrayDan ParksJon PetrieSam PinderBen PrescottFergus ThomsonKevin TkachukDan TurnerJonathan van der SchyffAndrew WilsonEric Milligan, who led Glasgow Hawks to victory in the Scottish Cup final in May, is among four club players included in Glasgow's squad for the forthcoming Heineken Cup campaign.
