Glasgow Rugby are offering a star raffle prize with an exclusive, priceless element.Thanks to Emirates airlines, the lucky ticket-holder will win a trip for two to escape from the Scottish winter to go the Dubai sevens. The prestigious prize, valued at more than ?4000, includes return flights from the UK and top-class hotel accommodation plus "money can't buy" hospitality in Emirates" corporate box.Raffle tickets will cost ?5. But just 2000 will be on sale, and they can be bought through a very limited number of outlets. Tickets will be on sale at Glasgow's two remaining Celtic League matches at Hughenden and at the Glasgow Rugby Awards Dinner in the Glasgow Thistle Hotel."We"re very grateful to Emirates for this outstanding prize," Bill Nolan, Glasgow Rugby's chairman, said in announcing the raffle today. But to be sure of buying tickets the best places will be Hughenden (at the two Glasgow games) and the Thistle Hotel on Sunday 17 April.The dinner is a fun event, with guest speakers from the rugby community as well as many current and past international players in attendance. STV's Jim Delahunt will be the dinner MC this year. Others on the list entertaining list of speakers are the always entertaining Bill Barclay, Jim Fleming, Scottish rugby's highly respective former international referee, and Sean Lineen, the former international centre now Glasgow's backs coach.This will be the Awards Dinner's sixth successive year. It is an evening to recognise and celebrate achievements within Glasgow district rugby. Many nominations have been registered, and more that 16 clubs have been recognised or had players nominated for awards. Over 600 guests attended last year's dinner, and all enjoyed a highly entertaining evening. This season we want to repeat and hopefully better that success. It is also an event to support the Glasgow Thistles Development Squad. In the past the dinner has been highly successful in raising substantial funds for the young players who have been lucky enough to be selected for the Thistles.This year's Thistles will travel to Ireland in July to be based at Limerick University, which has been chosen because of its superb facilities and location. It is regularly used by other sporting organisations such as the Ireland's international rugby squad, Sale Sharks, Bath RFC, and Everton.
