St Aloysius Triumph In Warriors Schools Sevens

Sixteen schools from throughout the Glagow rugby districts helped the Warriors kick off their Community Programme in style as they took part in the inaugural Glasgow Warriors Schools Seven-a-side Tournament at Whitecraigs.

The overall cup competition was won by St Aloysius College who beat Hillhead/Jordanhill Schools in the final while Hutchesons" Grammar School won the Shield by beating Biggar High School and St Ninians High School beat Kirkcudbright Academy to pick up the Bowl.

Glasgow Warriors head coach Sean Lineen said: 'the effort put in by the schools today was great. Some of them travelled a considerable distance to get here, like Kirkcudbright Academy and Arran Hugh School, who started their travels at 8am this morning to catch the ferry to the mainland."

One of Glasgow's senior players, scrum half Graeme Beveridge added: "Us players have really enjoyed getting to know the school teams. The standard of rugby has been really good and we hope there are some Warriors of the future taking part here today."

The schools taking part were: Arran High School, Balfron High School, Belmont House School, Biggar High School, Carrick Academy, Cathkin High School, Douglas Academy, Duncanrig Secondary School, Eastwood High School, Grange Academy, Hamilton College, Hillhead/Jordanhill Schools, Hutchesons' Grammar School, Kirkcudbright Academy, St Aloysius College and St Ninian's High School,

The Warriors will be running a season long community programme that sees them dedicate every Wednesday to community activities. This has been broken down into three blocks to ensure that the full squad is available.

The Warriors are also offering a special deal for youngsters taking part in the Community Programme in that they can come to a Warriors Magners League match for just _1* by using the promotional flyer given out at community events.
