Scotland Women were beaten by Wales Women despite a much-improved display from the host nation in the RBS 6 Nations at Dunbar RFC.

Wales stand off Naomi Thomas converted her own 29th-minute try before adding a penalty early in the second period.

But Scotland Women head coach Lee Adamson believes there was plenty to take encouragement from ahead of the next Six Nations game against Italy Women on Saturday 24 February at Meggetland.

Lee said: “It was a disappointing result because it was a game we could have won.
"But we played so much better as a unit than we did last week against England Women at St Albans.
"We competed for everything and parts of our play have improved significantly from the week before.
"I felt, if we could have turned some of the territory we had into a couple of scores, we could have won the game.
"But it is encouraging – we always set a target to improve in every game and we did that against Wales."
