As the eyes of the rugby world turn to Edinburgh, your country needs you to join our team of volunteers and play a crucial role in delivering these major events for Scotland.

Scottish Rugby President and ambassador for the Edinburgh 7s, Andy Irvine, said: “This is an opportunity to be involved in and contribute to two major international sporting events in Scotland. Volunteers will be at the heart of the organisation and will play an important role in presenting the image of Scotland to the rugby world. A memorable sporting experience awaits them.”

For the Emirates Airline Edinburgh 7s, the much anticipated final leg of the IRB Sevens World Series, Scottish Rugby needs 123 volunteers to fill a variety of essential event roles. Most of the responsibilities will give volunteers the opportunity to work directly with the teams, including the current leaders on the sevens circuit, New Zealand and Fiji.

To assist the 16 teams during their stay in Edinburgh, Scottish Rugby is looking for 16 team liaison officers and 16 assistant team liaison officers to be available from Monday 28 May to Monday 4 June. Their role will be to facilitate team requests and act as ambassadors and guides of the city.

In addition, Scottish Rugby is seeking four tournament office administration support officers, four pool car drivers and six masseurs to be available for the same period.

For the two days of the tournament (Saturday 2 and Sunday 3 June) Scottish Rugby requires 25 ‘runners’ to assist with the demanding match day schedule. This will involve escorting teams to changing rooms, warm-up zones and the main pitch as well as delivering information to different areas of the stadium. In addition, two volunteers are needed around the ground to mix with the crowd and distribute promotional materials.

Scottish Rugby is also holding a Festival of Rugby on the back pitches for which we will be specifically recruiting 50 volunteers from within the club and schools network. If you are one of these volunteers and would like to play your part, please contact your Regional Development Manager.

The closing date for applications is Friday 6 April so click here for an application form. Applicants must be over 18 years of age. All volunteers will, of course, be given access to both days of the tournament.
