The Scotland 7s team have been drawn against Samoa in the sixth leg of the IRB Sevens World Series in Adelaide, Australia.
Having played Samoa twice before this season and an encounter with Fiji on the cards in Hong Kong, the Scots are no strangers to Pacific Island competition.
Head coach Stephen Gemmell said: "The advantage for us is that we have faced all of these teams recently, but that also works in their favour.
"Samoa are going really well but it's a challenging competition no matter what pool you're in, there's absolutely no room for underachievement."
Scotland's pool is made up entirely of teams from the 12 core rugby countries with Portugal and Argentina accompanying Samoa to make up the rest of the group.
The draw for the Adelaide Sevens:
Pool A: Fiji, England, Canada, Tonga
Pool B: South Africa, France, Kenya, Japan
Pool C: New Zealand, Australia, Wales, Hong Kong
Pool D: Samoa, Argentina, Scotland, Portugal
