It is anticipated that as awareness of this initiative grows, so too will the payments to the sports.

“By bringing together the two most important sporting institutions in Scotland,” says Purely Scottish Managing Director Chris Keenan, “Purely Scottish will develop a sustainable source of funding that will help grow Scottish sport at all levels from grass-roots right through to the international teams. We are also working with the Scottish Executive to help develop a healthier, fitter Scotland. We want to be known as The Water of Scotland because every time you drink our water we donate. So why would you buy anything else?”

“It’s the perfect partnership,” says Scotland rugby head coach Frank Hadden. “Business and sport working together to benefit each other and the wider community … and it’s fantastic that an initiative like this can bring together rugby and football.”

Alex McLeish, the Scotland football manager added: “This really is an ideal opportunity for the people of Scotland to get behind their national teams and help support both rugby and football at all levels. At a time when the nation’s health is so important, Purely Scottish is a perfect partner for us.”

For Purely Scottish this initiative is just the first step in a coordinated campaign to focus on healthy eating in Scotland. By working with sporting partners and encouraging Scots of all ages to drink more water, Purely Scottish are aligning themselves with government initiatives to help reduce obesity in Scotland and promote a healthier approach to the traditional Scottish diet.
