Clubs Rewarded For Role In Developing Players

Scottish Rugby is rewarding clubs to the tune of ?£32,000 in recognition of the role they have played in developing players who have gone on to win full-time or apprentice contracts with professional teams. Some 28 clubs, drawn from throughout the Premiership, National Leagues and youth structures, are sharing the monies, calculated on the basis of ?£500 a year for players on full-time contracts awarded over a period of seven years and ?£100 a year for those on apprentice contracts awarded over a period of five years.Scottish Rugby is rewarding clubs to the tune of ?£32,000 in recognition of the role they have played in developing players who have gone on to win full-time or apprentice contracts with professional teams.

Payments are being made to clubs this week.

SRU Head of Community Rugby, Colin Thomson, said: “Scottish Rugby recognises the contribution that the clubs and many of their volunteers have made in the development of these players. We hope that these payments can be reinvested in the clubs’ development structures including their support of local schools rugby. We thank the clubs for the part they play in nurturing talent.”

Aberdeen Grammar Rugby - ?£500 – Moray Low (Glasgow Warriors apprentice prop) and Sean Crombie (Border Reivers apprentice hooker)

Ayr - ?£500 – James Eddie (Glasgow Warriors full-time lock)

Boroughmuir - ?£3,500 – Calum Cusiter (Border Reivers’ full-time scrum-half)

Cartha Queens Park - ?£100 – Jamie Hunter (Glasgow Warriors apprentice scrum-half)

Currie - ?£2,500 – Ben Cairns (Edinburgh Rugby full-time utility back) and Dougie Flockhart (Border Reivers full-time wing/full-back)

Dundee HSFP - ?£200 – Cameron Ferguson (Edinburgh Rugby apprentice stand-off) and Alan Dymock (Edinburgh Rugby apprentice prop)

Dunfermline - ?£500 – Fraser McKenzie (Edinburgh Rugby apprentice lock)

Dumfries - ?£3,500 – Nick De Luca (Border Reivers full-time centre) and Dougie Flockhart (Border Reivers full-time wing/full-back)

Edinburgh Accies - ?£600 – Nick De Luca (Border Reivers full-time centre) and Kyle Traynor (Edinburgh Rugby apprentice prop)

Gala - ?£100 – Roddy Grant (Border Reivers apprentice flanker)

GHA - ?£3,700 – James Eddie (Glasgow Warriors full-time lock), John Barclay (Glasgow Warriors full-time flanker) and Calum Forrester (Glasgow Warriors apprentice back-row)

Glenrothes - ?£100 – Sean Crombie (Border Reivers apprentice hooker)
