All Change For Bates As Reivers Face Leinster

Border Reivers head coach Steve Bates has made nine changes, two positional, to the team that faced Cardiff Blues last Friday night at Netherdale. Among the seven new additions to the starting line-up to play Leinster tomorrow night at Donnybrook (kick-off 7:30pm), is utility back Calum MacRae who has recovered from a foot injury in time to captain the side in their penultimate match.

As well as the introduction of MacRae to the centre, Steve Jones and Rob Chrystie will team up at half-back.

In the pack, Steve Scott replaces Ross Ford at hooker whilst Bruce Douglas comes in for Ed Kalman.

Samoan international Opeta Palepoi switches from the back-row to lock, teaming up with Stuart Grimes, whilst Scott Gray and Andy Miller start in the back-row alongside Kelly Brown who returns to no. 8.

NATIONAL ACADEMY (BORDERS)
Four National Academy (Borders) players are included in the Border Reivers’ travelling squad for the visit to Leinster on Saturday night.

Hooker Sean Crombie, prop Bruce McNeil and back-rower Scott Newlands are included.

With the popular Earlston Sevens on Sunday, a number of National Academy players turn out for their respective clubs. Graham Hogg and Rory Hutton are in the colours of Hawick, Callum Anderson features for Melrose and Roddy Grant and Fraser Thomson will wear the maroon of Gala.

All Hawick’s National Academy players, Bruce McNeil, Scott Forrest, Graham Hogg and Rory Hutton are in line to take part in the Border League final against Selkirk at Mansfield Park on Tuesday night (kick-off 7.30pm).
