Scottish Rugby is saddened to learn of the death of former Scotland internationalist John Hart. He was 79. A wing, capped out of London Scottish against South Africa at Murrayfield in 1951, he also played club rugby for Watsonians and Edinburgh University.

A talented athlete, Hart represented Great Britain as a hurdler in 1946 and 1949 and competed for Scotland at the Empire Games in Auckland in 1950 in the 440 yards hurdles.

He went on to become a distinguished rugby administrator, serving as secretary of the International Rugby Board from 1971-1986.
